Second Life- Vivienne sees a deer

In Pop Culture, Second Life by Heidi Nyburg on Tuesday, June 12, 2007

One of the coolest things about Second Life is the feeling that you are walking through a person’s imagination. It’s like being inside a painting. A sense of serendipitous discover abounds and you truly never know what you will find. We found a deer. We were just stomping around, literally as our level of grace in Second Life is markedly decreased, when there he was, just standing there in the distance. The deer was relatively docile and didn’t’ run from us but did tilt his head and seem to “see” us. Later we sat atop a waterfall to look out over the imaginary Ocean. I love the colors in this scene and the way the mist hovers over the water. Incidentally, we totally tripped over a log while we were there.

I would hope that since I fall so much in real life that I could have a fall free second life. If only there wer second life squirels.

See, that’s why I love GTA:SA so much… I am still finding little scenes that amaze me… I can’t imagine how exceedingly awesome some of the things in SL are.

I always end up with this vague sense of confusion when wandering through SL, maybe I just haven’t visited the right places — weird German techno clubs aren’t my cup of tea.

Was it a deer or some SLer whose character was a deer? Not that it matters, I suppose.

It was a “real” deer. There were no other SLers at the coordinates on the map. I totally thought it was an Sler at first because you don’t usually see animals there. It was really well done. I can email you the location. It’s near Hollywood over the hills past the golf course.

SL was and is a really great idea. I think it is the internet of tomorrow, but we will see.
