Supah Bowl Sunday!

In Pop Culture by Heidi Nyburg on Thursday, January 31, 2008

We only watch one football game each year and it’s the Super Bowl. Basically we hang around the punch bowl waiting for the commercials and pay attention to the game only towards the end of each quarter. The instant replays are annoying and all that drawing on the screen and analyzing. It’s like the Family Circus only instead of Billy taking the long way to get the mail, it’s men in tights chasing a pigskin ball. So for us it’s all about the commercials. Here’s a peek at Justin Timberlake’s commercial for Pepsi Stuff (Pepsi’s answer to CokeRewards)  set to air this Sunday, entitled “Magnetic Attraction.”  And what’s the deal with CokeRewards anyway, you have to fill your entire swimming pool with diet coke just to get enough points for a “free” MP3. Thanks.

Andy Samberg looks fab as a blonde!

Super bowl commercials are definitely the best. I wish though there were fewer about banking or the latest online business they are always so boring. Don’t get me wrong I banking and online businesses are good things they just need to understand that boring people to death doesn’t sell.

I definitely agree that one of things I like best about the Super Bowl are the commercials. They are usually so funny and the best part about it is commercials, the thing that you normally dread the most when you’re trying to watch a sports event, are actually just part of the entertainment. I’ve seen a few clips that have been put out to get all of our tongues wagging for more and I think they should be good this year. I will be especially interested to see how the commercials that won the Doritos Crash the SuperBowl Contest turn out to be!
