Shopping online like most everything else has its ups and downs... Its pluses and minuses, so to speak. The good = Items that may not be available in stores around where you actually live. The minus... Well it just may not fit that great. These are just the facts of life...
<b>Until</b> the <a href="http://www.lorislingerie.com">online boutiques</a> make it possible for you to try your <a href="http://www.lorislingerie.com">blouse and/or bikini</a> on at home via virtual manikin one will just have to read the measurements very carefully and of course understand their own measurements to the best of their abilities. What is a shame about some of the online retailers is shared with a comment above... To be able to go through the check-out THEN finding out your item is not in stock is just plain wrong and bad for customer relations. It is understandable sometimes that the item can still be searched for even though that it is out of stock... The item should not be able to be entered into the shopping cart...
JMHO -

Well at least the owner was nice enough to contact you and remove the item. I too, get frustrated when I finally find a product I really want to buy, only to find out that it's been discontinued.

Having reviewed many websites and shopping carts I think there should be some effort put into making a cart that meets many sales-oriented and being found requirements like:
* usability including clean navigation and user friendly (not hostile) info
* standards compliant - no errors for HTML or CSS - makes for ease of search engine indexing
* smart content - uses product names and codes in important page areas so the product page can be found in the search engines.

Just my $0.02.

The article was impressive, but more impressive is the store owners response. I can't help but to give my business to a small family run business, or an owner like Katie. Keeping an eye on your online PR is always beneficial. Bravo to Katie for catching the article.

It is sooo true! I think most of the sites don't remove the items that are not available anymore! It's just a waste of time for the buyer!

That was the same experience with me at my last shopping online. I was going to buy a present for my wife birthday. Too bad the stuff didn't come after I submit my order without notification.

That's one thing I hate about online shopping. It's true that with online shopping we don't have to go anywhere to buy our need. But we must accept the risk of out stock and long delivery time.

Wow Katie was fast to respond (she seems to be the first comment on here). I agree with both sides. Leaving a product up that was mentioned by Glamour is probably a good idea, but it shouldn't have said "sold out" just No Longer Available, or Past Products. That was nice of her to email you back without getting defensive. I totally agree about the Macy's thing though, I've had that happen to some friends and its annoying.

I think that in their marketing minds, if they’ve gotten you to their site, they are happy. To them, why take the time to remove or flag items if they have the potential to bring you to their online store, where you might find a replacement for the out-of-stock item.
